1st Place Cake, 2nd Birthday Party

After an amazing trip to New York, I rushed back to make a cake for Ethan's 2nd birthday.  I have really learned to love children's cakes when I get to use bold colors and bright ideas.  I was 'fired-up' after my classes in NYC and could not wait to put my new skills to work.  I think I am in love with covering cake boards- it makes such a difference!  The party had a "Cars" theme.

All Decorations are made of Gumpaste.

Covering the cake board looks really good and finishes off the cake. I can't decide if I like the whimsical cakes or the pretty cakes more. Great job on all of it!

For the neapolitan cupcakes, the batter is pretty stiff. I use an ice cream scoop with a spring loaded lever to dispense the batter evenly.

I love the ribbon decorations! They look like confetti!
