Saving Lives, one cake at a time.

I just had a rare, yet "heart- warming" cake experience!
Sutter Memorial Hospital had contacted me to create a cake to celebrate the lives of some of their patients. Instead of a "normal" sheet cake, I created an inspirational and whimsical cake for those surviving with the aide of a Ventricular Assist Device. At the request of the hospital, I topped the cake with an edible replica of a heart + VAD. This was my first attempt at making an anatomical heart, and it was pretty clear that I have not studied anatomy since high school...In the end, I was very pleased with the design! Take a look!

In addition, please take a look at some of the other creations from last week:

Chocolate A's baseball hat, with matching cupcakes

Pumpkin Spice cake with gumpaste baby booties

Birthday cake for my grandmother- with lemon cream filling, of course

Close-up of edible gumpaste Moth Orchids

Halloween pics to come shortly! Stay tuned!!

I'm totally going to have you make me some retro-style Kings cupcakes when they finally get back to the playoffs! I've even been hanging on to some retro Kings plates I found on ebay just for that occasion. Didn't think I'd be waiting this long.... but at least things are kind of looking up this year.
