Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to deliver a beautiful wedding cake up to South Lake Tahoe. The venue was gorgeous, and I wish I had snapped a few pics of the decor.
The bride had given me the artistic license to design the cake. Sugar red tulips were her only request. I have to say, I was very pleased with my gumpaste Parrot Tulips. I hope the pics give them justice! Because of the dark red color, the petals were originally "chalky" and "ashy" looking once they dried. After the petal and luster dust was applied, I briefly swirled them over some steam from the stove to brighten up the color. It worked! I wish I had made more flowers....
